We are living in uncertain times.  The stock market rises one day and dramatically falls the next.  Many have seen up to half their retirement savings lost in the stock market in the last few years.  People are asking what do I invest in now?  Should I really be buying gold?  It is sobering to realize that, in a moment, the 401k account which you have spent years building up, can be gone.  So it is, in the world in which we live and the hour that is upon us.

But Jesus said, that though we are in this world we are not of this world.  Therefore, the hopelessness and fear that is overtaking people today should not be so with us.  Jesus asked the believers in Corinth why they were "behaving like mere men" (1Cor 3:3 ), with the obvious implication that they were not
mere men, or only human as we like to say.

We, as the sons of God have been given an inheritance which is incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, which is reserved in heaven for us (1 Peter 1:4).  The Greek word  translated  inheritance here actually suggests both a present and a future reality.   And because of this, the Apostle Peter said we should rejoice!  In fact, if that weren't enough to cause us to be glad, we are heirs of God, and joint heirs with Jesus!  This is more than a future promise, this is a present reality, not for mere men, but for the sons of God.   Meditate on your inheritance today and let Holy Spirit reveal to you just how
rich you really are!

Scripture reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9, Romans 8:14-16

Prayer:  Thank you, Father for your extravagant love and for this truly glorious inheritance which is not subject to the changing and corrupting influences of this present world.  Show me what it means to be your heir and joint heir with your Son Jesus.  Amen.
