Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?  Not doctrines and intellectual arguments, not institutions and denominations, not mega churches and relevant messages, but FAITH.  Jesus asked the question, so apparently the obvious answer wasn't so obvious as far as He was concerned.  In an age when we are constantly reminded of all the things we "need" to keep up with "everyone" we would do well to consider these words of Jesus.   He was expressing a deep desire of His heart, later  the writer of Hebrews declared that, "Without faith it is impossible to please God."
I believe the reason the answer to Jesus question is not so easily answered is because He is talking about true faith, not the kind that is commonly referred to by people when the occasion calls for a reference to a "higher power."  I don't think He was referring to that because that is completely common. It is politically correct, never specific to Jesus (gasp!), it is vague and never offensive, it is respectable and . . . it is not, I'm pretty sure, the kind of faith Jesus was talking about.
No, there is another kind of faith and it is the kind that I believe Jesus is looking for even now.   This kind of faith literally changes things.  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1).   It actually pulls things from the spirit realm into the natural realm.   It calls those things that are not as though they are and in so doing, causes those things to be.  It moves mountains.  It causes sick things, including people, to be well, and dead things, including people, to be alive.  It makes people uncomfortable, it is radical and passionate and considered by some to be fanatical (see Jesus).  It is not easily offended.   Enter the Syro-Phoenician woman with the demon possessed daughter of Mathew 15.  When she asked Jesus to heal her demon possessed daughter, Jesus responded by first denying her and when she persisted, He called her and her daughter, "dogs."   This woman refused to be deterred or offended and ultimately Jesus was so moved by her faith that He said to her, "O woman, great is your faith. Let it be to you as you desire."  And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
So, when the son of man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?   I want my life to answer that question in a way that will bring joy to the heart of my Lord.   How about you?

     Scripture reading: Hebrews 11

Thank you Father for the legacy of faith that has been passed down to us.  Help us to build upon that legacy, a testimony to this generation that you are the God of the impossible!  Amen
